A Weekend In Prague

The title of this post pretty much says it all. I spent a weekend in Prague, completely in awe of the beauty of this city. As life was becoming more stressful and my anxiety at its very peak, a getaway is exactly what I needed to clear my mind, and in some way, escape from the hustle and bustle in my everyday life. However, these city breaks do tend to end quite quickly where one must be faced with reality, yet again. Having said that, I enjoyed my stay in Prague and would 100% visit again. For the first time ever, I actually spent time seeing the landmarks, roaming around the streets and just taking everything in.

This isn’t your standard ‘city guide’ or a list of ‘things to do in Prague.’ Instead, I’m sharing with you visual memories of my weekend in Prague. In terms of recommendations, I’d suggest getting completely lost in the city. For me, it was a perfect way to fully make the most of the trip and experience things I otherwise wouldn’t have, if I just followed a strict itinerary. Of course, plan the things you want to do and see but don’t be afraid to also branch out from these areas to discover more.

I stayed in a charming AirBnb apartment, hosted by a lovely woman named Yvetta. The location was perfect as the metro link was literally right outside the apartment, taking me into the city in about approximately 15-20 minutes, if even! The best part of it all was Yvetta’s restaurant was located 15 minutes via the metro, where I indulged in a complimentary breakfast every morning. Meeting Yvetta was definitely one of the highlights of my trip - so warm, friendly and welcoming. It was definitely hard saying goodbye as I’ve never really travelled anywhere before, where I’ve been welcomed with open arms, literally.

One thing I do feel like I’ve missed out on during my time in Prague, is tasting the local cuisine. As it was a solo trip, I was pretty much fine with either making a pit stop at a cafe or just doing a mini grocery shop for the apartment. I guess it’s different when you’re travelling with someone else where you’re guaranteed to at least go out for a meal once a day. This probably explains why I actually had money left over when I came back home, as well as the fact that Prague is reasonably affordable.

One of the highlights of my trip to Prague, was being present amongst the locals at the Saturday Farmer’s Market. I drank mulled wine and went on-board a boat where a flea market was being held. There were so much pieces I could have loaded my suitcase with but of course, I packed way too much for a weekend trip that I couldn’t even find the space to fit anything else!

I shot some 35mm film using a point and shoot Canon film camera i purchased a few weeks before the trip. Enjoy!
